Polyphenol Forte combines the benefits of both Green Tea & Grape Seed.
Over the last few decades green tea has been subjected to many scientific and medical studies to determine the extent of its long-purported health benefits, with evidence suggesting regular green tea drinkers may have lower chances of heart disease and developing certain types of cancer. Green tea consumption is associated with reduced heart disease, and reduced cholesterol levels. Green Tea Extract has long been used by the Chinese as medicine to treat headaches, body ache, poor digestion, and improve well-being and life expectancy. Green tea has also been shown to be useful for weight loss management.

Benefits of Green Tea
Green tea contains polyphenols which are thought to improve health, particularly catechins, the most abundant of which is epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG). Observational and clinical studies of humans suggest that green tea in addition to reducing the risks of cardiovascular disease and cancer is also beneficial for bone density, cognitive function, dental cavities, and kidney stones. Green tea also contains carotenoids, tocopherols, ascorbic acid (vitamin C), minerals such as chromium, manganese, selenium or zinc, and certain phytochemical compounds.
Benefits of Grape Seed
Grape Seed Extract comes from the tiny seeds of the red grape. It is rich in flavonoids, which are plant substances that help protect cells from free radical damage. Grape Seed Extract is a natural plant substance that has a concentrated source of oligomeric proanthocyanidins (OPC). These anti-oxidants help protect cells from free radical damage and also promote healthy circulation. Grape Seed Extract is rich in polyphenols, a compound that's high in antioxidants. Grape Seed Extract has been shown to remain in the body for as long as 3 full days, and is 20 times more potent than vitamin C, and 50 times more potent than vitamin E. Grape Seed Extract is one of the most powerful antioxidants that fights free radicals. Grape Seed Extract helps improve cardiovascular health and promotes brain, skin and eye health. Research indicates Grape Seed Extract may be of benefit in individuals with vision disorders and may reduce eyestrain associated with prolonged computer monitor work. Grape Seed Extract is also anti-bacterial, anti-viral, and anti-inflammatory and is one of the few antioxidants that can penetrate the blood brain barrier to help protect the brain and nerve tissue. Studies show that Grape Seed Extract may also have the ability to block platelet activating factor
(PAF), thus lengthening the time it takes for the blood to form clots.
Lowering Blood Pressure
The loss of arterial elasticity is one cause of high blood pressure. Youthful arteries expand and contract effortlessly with each heart beat. Aging causes a loss of arterial elasticity. A significant cause of hypertension is an enzyme secreted by the kidneys called angiotension-converting enzyme (ACE). Popular drugs such as Capoten, Vasotec and Zestril function as angiotension-converting enzyme inhibitors (ACE inhibitors). By blocking the effects of ACE, blood pressure is reduced significantly. Green tea is a natural ACE inhibitor.
If you are going to use green tea to treat hypertension, do so only under the supervision of a competent medical professional who can evaluate whether it is working for you. Regular blood-pressure testing is essential.
Lowering Blood Sugar
When starch is consumed, it requires the enzyme amylase to break it down into simple sugars that can be absorbed in the blood stream. Green tea & Grape seed polyphenols inhibit amylase. One study showed that just one cup of green tea inhibited amylase activity by 87%. Another study showed that green tea extract reduced the normal elevation of glucose and insulin when 50 grams of starch were ingested.
High blood levels of glucose and insulin predispose people to diabetes and cardiovascular disease, and are associated with accelerated aging. For many people, sugar is the primary culprit in the accumulation of body fat.
Weight Loss
There are two ways to lose weight, reduce energy intake (eat fewer calories) or increase energy expenditure (exercise more). In a study reported on in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, it was found that green tea extract resulted in a significant increase in energy expenditure (a measure of metabolism), plus it also had a significant effect on fat oxidation. While some of the effects were originally theorized to be due to the caffeine content of green tea, the researchers discovered that the tea actually has properties that go beyond those that would be explained by the caffeine. The same amount of caffeine as was in the green tea, administered alone, failed to change energy expenditure in other studies. This led reseachers to believe that there is some interaction going on with the active ingredients of green tea that promotes increased metabolism and fat oxidation. Of critical importance is the fact that none of the research subjects reported any side effects, and no significant differences in heart rates were noticed. In this respect, green tea extract is different from some of the prescription drugs for obesity, and herbal products like ephedra, which can raise heart rates and blood pressure, and are not recommended for many individuals,
In a UK study it was shown that average fat oxidation rates were 17% higher after ingestion of green tea Extract than after ingestion of a placebo. Similarly the contribution of fat oxidation to total energy expenditure was also significantly higher by a similar percentage following ingestion of green tea extract. This implies that ingestion of green tea extract can not only increase fat oxidation during moderately intensive exercise but also improve insulin sensitivity and glucose tolerance.
Polyphenol Forte & Caffeine
Polyphenol Forte contains only trace amounts of caffeine. One cup of decaffeinated tea can contain up to 9mg of caffeine whereas one capsule of Polyphenol Forte contains less than 0.9mg. Polyphenol Forte will not act as a stimulant or increase blood pressure or heart rate and can be taken before bedtime without affecting sleep.
How many cups of tea are equivalent to one capsule of Polyphenol Forte?
One cup of green tea contains between 10 & 40 mg of polyphenols. One capsule of Polyphenol Forte contains 275 mg of Green Tea & Grape Seed polyphenols, equivalent to between 7 & 25 cups of green tea.
